Although Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world with an incredible number of kilometers of coastline, the entire island is home to just a small number of historic lighthouses<\/a>. One of them is located on the small, paradisiacal island of Nosy Tanikely<\/a> in northwest Madagascar. The island is now a national park<\/a> and thus a protected area.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The 10-meter high lighthouse of Nosy Tanikely was built in 1908 and is still one of the oldest lighthouses in Madagascar. The light reaches 57 meters. Only 200 m far it goes up through the small forest of the island, then you stand in front of the old building. A spacious picnic area with stone tables and benches invites you to rest.<\/p>\n

Who likes can also go into the lighthouse. Inside you can marvel at the old architecture of the lighthouse – and the old staircase, which instead of steps used to be made of iron rods only. From the lighthouse, you have a fantastic view over the surrounding islands Nosy Be<\/a>, Nosy Komba<\/a> and Nosy Faly. Whoever visits Nosy Tanikely should therefore definitely take the few steps to the lighthouse!<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
